Preliminary Round  (DVD recording)

Maximum duration: Minimum 35 minutes – maximum 40 minutes

Each contestant must perform:

  1. A complete sonata chosen from the following list:
    • Haydn:
      • Sonata in E-flat Major Hob XVI: 49
      • Sonata in C Major Hob XVI: 50
      • Sonata in E-flat Major Hob.XVI:52
    • Mozart Any Sonata  
    • Beethoven Any Sonata excluding Op. 49 No.1 and No.2
  2. Three Etudes (including)
    • one by F. Chopin
    • one by F. Liszt
    • one by a composer listed below
      C. Debussy
      S. Rachmaninoff
      A. Scriabin
      S. Prokofiev
      I. Stravinsky
  3. Choice of piece(s) from the candidate to complete time requirement

 

First Round  ( 5-6 September  2011)

Maximum duration: Minimum 35 minutes – maximum 40 minutes

Each contestant must perform the same program that was submitted in recorded form for the Preliminary Round.
No changes will be allowed.

The Jury may ask for any work or any part of the work of each contestant's program.

 

Semi-Final Round  ( 7-8 September 2011)

Maximum duration: Minimum 45 minutes – maximum 50 minutes

Each Semifinalist must perform a recital program which must include:

  1. One major Romantic piece - minimum 7 Minutes – maximum 35 Minutes -  for exceptions please contact Laurent Boukobza, Artistic Director at: ArtisticDirector@FloridaPiano.org for approval.
  2. A piece or a group of pieces from a French composer from the Modern and/or Contemporary era (i.e. Debussy, Ravel, Faure, Roussel, Messiaen, Dutilleux etc...). Minimum 7 minutes
  3. Choice of piece(s) from the candidate to complete time requirement

None of the works from the previous rounds may be used.
