Regulations
- The Competition is open to pianists of any nationality who are ages 18 through 32 on the first day of the competition (Monday, 5 September 2011).
- Applications must be received (not postmarked) no later than June 23rd, 2011 (see application requirements). Applications received after the deadline date might not be accepted.
- Students of 2011 Competition judges are not eligible to compete (this includes current and former students). Participants of Master Classes with any of the jury members within the last two years as of 5 September 2011 are not eligible to apply.
- After the Preliminary Round (based on the video recording) three (3) alternates will be notified and twenty-two (22) candidates will be invited to participate in the First Round of the Florida International Piano Competition.
- The Competition will provide housing by host families, if available. If not available, candidates will be financially responsible for lodging and food. Practice facilities will be available. Candidates are welcome to stay at a hotel at their own expense.
- It will be the responsibility of the contestant to register with the competition committee on Sunday, 4 September 2011, between 5:00 - 6:00 pm. Contestants not registered before 6:00 pm may be denied access to the Competition.
- All contestants will be required to attend the Opening Ceremony on Sunday, 4 September 2011, 6:00 pm. At this time, the drawing for performance order will take place.
- All music must be performed from memory (see repertoire requirements).
- Eight contestants and one alternate will be selected for the Semi-Final Round.
- Contestants who are eliminated are not obligated to stay for the remainder of the Competition, but are invited to do so. Semi-Finalists are expected to participate in the Master Class offered. Finalists are expected to participate in the Closing Ceremony of the Competition on Saturday, 10 September 2011 and the Winners Recital on Sunday, 11 September 2011, or their prizes may be forfeited.
- The jury will select eliminated contestants from the First Round and Semi-Final Round to partiipate in the Master Classes with the jury members on Friday, 9 September 2011.
- Attendance Friday evening, 9 September 2010, is (not required but) appreciated at the Host Family Reception in honor of the host families who dedicated their time and efforts to the participants during competition week.
- Three Finalists will be selected to perform with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra in the concerto Final Round on Saturday, 10 September 2011 at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre in Orlando, Florida.
- Prizes and Awards will be announced soon after the Final Round at the Closing Ceremony of the Competition.
- Additional prizes may be announced.
- All prizes listed may NOT be awarded. Ties are possible. Performance engagements are subject to final arrangements.
- The Jury's decisions are final and not subject to review.
- All prize winners will be responsible to appear in all concert engagements arranged by the Competition Organizing Committee including performing in the Winners Recital on Sunday, 11 September 2011.
