Orlando International Piano Competition
COMPETITION
REGULATIONS
The
Competition is open to pianists of any nationality born between October 1975 and October 1990 as of October 1st 2008.
Applications must be received (not postmarked) no later than July 1st, 2008 (see application requirements). Applications
received after the deadline date might not be accepted.
Students of 2008 Competition judges are not eligible to
compete (this includes current and former students). Participants of Master Classes with any of the jury members within the
last two years as of September 2008 are not eligible to apply.
After the preliminary round (based on the video
recording) twenty (20) to twenty two (22) candidates as well as three (3) alternates will be invited to participate in the
first round of the Grand Bohemian Orlando International Piano Competition.
The Competition will provide housing by
host families, if available. Practice facilities will be available at Rollins College. Candidates are welcome to stay
at a hotel at their own expense.
It will be the responsibility of the contestant to register with the competition
committee on 14 September 2008 at Crealde Executive Center, 2431 Aloma Avenue, Winter Park, Florida from 11:00 AM to 3:00
PM. Contestants not registered before 3:00 PM will be denied access to the Competition.
All contestants
will be required to attend the Opening Ceremony on Sunday, 14 September 2008 at 6:00 PM. At this time, the
drawing for performance order will take place.
All the music must be performed from memory (see repertoire requirements).
Eight contestants and one alternate will be selected for the Semi-Final Round.
Contestants who are eliminated
are not obligated to stay for the remainder of the Competition, but are invited to do so. Semi-Finalists are expected
to participate in the Master Class offered. Finalists are expected to participate in the Closing Ceremony of the
Competition on 20 September 2008.
The jury will select eliminated contestants from the first round to be
invited to participate in the free Master Classes with the jury members on 19 September 2008.
Eliminated contestants
from the Semi-Finals will be automatically invited to participate in the Master Class.
Three finalists will be
selected to perform with the Bach Festival Orchestra in the Concerto Final Round.
Prizes and Awards will be announced
and presented soon after the Concerto Final Round at the Closing Ceremony of the Competition on 20 September 2008.
All prizes listed may be awarded. Performance engagements are subject to final arrangements.
The Jury's
decisions are final and not subject to review.
All prizewinners will be responsible to appear in all concert engagements
arranged by the Competition Organizing Committee including the Encore Winner's Gala Recital on Sunday, 21 September
2008.
